Cave Run Lake - Fishing Photo

COME HOME TO THE COUNTRY

More and more people are leaving the cities to spend quality time in the unspoiled beauty of the wilderness. Cave Run Lake and the Daniel Boone National Forest offers an abundance of water sports, trails for horseback riding, hiking, biking or just to meander along enjoying the wonders of nature. Find yourself wrapped in a circle of silence that is broken only by the sounds of nature. Even if you only stand at the edge of the wilderness and look in, it can be a means of reassuring yourself that the beauty of nature is still there for ourselves and our children to enjoy for years to come. While you are visiting our area.

PLEASE HELP US KEEP
OUR LAKE AND TRAILS LITTER FREE.

There are beautiful scenic byways along Cave Run Lake and the surrounding countryside. Cave Run Lake was created by damming up the Licking River. It is a man made impoundment of nearly 8,300 acres of water to enjoy. An added bonus is that you won't find any privately owned homes or store-fronts while on the water, which adds to the uniqueness of Cave Run Lake.
Enjoy a peaceful evening watching the sunset on the mountains and the lake, or the Canadian geese flying in for the evening. We have ample overnight accommodations in the Cave Run Lake area, in which you have your choice of a lodge, motel, bed and breakfast, cabin rentals, and, of course, campgrounds. Our area also hosts a grand array of shops, with art, local crafts, candles, sweet shops and restaurants.
Cave Run also offers the sportsman an adventure not soon forgotten, Cave Run Lake is known as the Muskie Capital of the south and with good reason. On September 21, 2001, the new state record muskie was taken in Cave Run Lake - 54 1/2 inches and 44.75 lbs. Enjoy the wide variety of fishing in the lake and surrounding waters. Our waters are host to not only muskie, but are also great for bass, crappie, catfish, and trout fishing.
We abound in natural scenic beauty and wildlife. You will find deer, turkey, fox, a few black bears, bobcats, Canadian geese, and even the common loon has taken up residences as well as, elk that have been recently introduced. We also have osprey and bald eagles that feed and nest in our area. So take your camera as you wander our trails and waters because you never know what you may run across!
